About
My name is Elana Cohen, I am 22 and I'm in my third year studying Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, where I specialise in Knitted Textiles.
I have many skills that have developed over the course of my degree, these include skills such as hand knitting, machine knitting, CAD, teamwork and presentations. As i specialise in knit, machine knitting is the most important part and i have seem to be taken to the domestic machines specifically looking at more 3D partial knits against some flatter samples.
CAD is a major part of any design and my skills within photoshop and illustrator have developed vastly since starting this course. Placing my samples into products helps drive my sample making to push me towards making a fabulous collection that works together and visualising it as an end product.

During this course, teamwork is also key. Participating in a live project for Spin Expo gave me the opportunity to work with a team creating a collaborative final collection from different aspects of textiles including weave and print.
My presentation skills have also grown, having done about 4 presentations this year, both individually and in a group, im a muuch more confident speaker talking about my work.
